blishment of the EDI center

To help enhance the efficiency of order-placement and order-receiving operations in the Aerospace industry, the Aerospace Industry EDI Center was established in the Society of Japan Aerospace Companies in April 2001 with the objectives of implementing standard policies relating to electronic data interchange (EDI) for order placement and receipt as well as for conducting coordinated maintenance and management for the system achieving EDI, together with working to promote the spread of EDI, as is indicated below.

Programs established for employment as means of electronic data interchange in the foregoing Aerospace industry standard EDI policies
The system is composed of the following programs:

  • Order-placement EDI server program
  • Order-receiving client program
  • XML translator program

Technical-data interchange system for order placement and receipt

Programs to achieve electronic data interchange for the technical data accompanying order placement and receipt

Outsourcer progress management system

Programs for managing the progress of outsourcers placing orders for outsourced machining or the like

Activities of the EDI center

The EDI Center is engaged in the following activities.

  1. Drafting, maintaining, improving, and managing the Aerospace industry standard EDI policies
  2. Maintening, improving, and managing the software required to implement the Aerospace industry standard EDI policies
  3. Promoting the spread of the Aerospace industry standard EDI policies
  4. Engaging in alliances and cooperation with institutions and organizations involved in enhancing the efficiency of order-placement and order-receiving operations in the Aerospace industry or in the standardization of systems of electronic data interchange
  5. Other operations necessary in enabling the EDI Center to achieve its objectives

Operation of the EDI center

The EDI Center is operated by paid members who endorse the center's objectives and collaborate with its activities. The center has a two-tiered membership structure, as shown below, with only one type of members having voting rights in the Steering Committee, which is the center's top decision-making body.

The center solicits membership among those who endorse the center's objectives and are able to cooperate with its activities. To register as a member, please use the "Apply for Membership" page.
Membership requires the approval of the Board of Governors. Please note that some time may pass before notification of the status of application for membership is given.
